Where have all the tuff EVO's Gone?

Lately it seems all of the big power jobs have been Subi's which makes you wonder where all of the tuff Evo's are currently hibernating?

With all the formal cars kicking about and the smorgasbord of eye candy pounding the blacktop, surely this would be the perfect hunting ground for a mildly tweaked Evo.

R.I.P Ultimate X

What's with it and Lancer's getting written off?
Our X has unfortunately met an untimely end with a RAV4 at about 80kmh deciding that it didn't like what Mitsubishi had done, with the rear styling of the Evo and thought it may like to help.

Turns out like most new Toyota's (FT-86 excepted) it did a crap job of it!
oh well looks like there gonna be a nice shiny Evo waiting to get tortured in the new year.

Cusco Dealers

As a lot of you would have noticed in the past couple of months we have been pushing the Cusco brand be it in our own cars or our customers.

But there is logic be hide it 1) we trust the product as it is all made in Japan and their R&D team is second to none and like us it was baptised in the heat of battle (circuit racing), and 2) it has enabled us to develop a great connection with the good people at Cusco to secure our clients the best possible parts at the best possible prices.

For all your Bracing/LSD/Water Spray/Clutch/Bolt In Roll Cage/Sway Bar and almost everything else under the Sun needs please drop us a line at ultimatetunes@netspeed.com.au or call us on 6281 1821

EVO NATS RESULTS

So we came in 2nd in class and 3rd overall, not bad considering that we had the worlds only three wheeled Evo!

We will continue to develop the VII into a more focused track car and the X will also start down it's path to the world of time attack.

so stay tuned

EVO NATS

As we go to post, i still have no official idea of who finished where.

But our VII had a very adventurous weekend indeed, it started off very strong and was putting in great times and as Jason's confidence grew the times fell.

But as any good story has a bad bit, well this is the bad bit: As Jason was smashing through the esses coming onto the main straight..Bang! there goes the front left, it literally snapped away from the car leaving the Evo tripoded on the in field which is a credit to Jason as any lesser driver would have been left with scrap aluminium to recycle.

Our team, work through the night trying to patch the car back up for the next days events, and like every Disney story the car was back on the road the next day and put in some great performances to place in the top 3 for the day.

All in all a great weekend, special thanks to Jason for the great driving performance and well done to our crew, this is why you're the greatest.

Random Snap: BOW DOWN

Last Track Day

Well this post has been a long time coming but with all the excitement of the Milo taking out the Championship and with the EVO NATS this weekend, it hardly left us anytime to spend on the track day report.

Well the weather was perfect and there were some seriously quick times falling around the track all day, our EVO VII managed to get down into a 1:06's before the engine expired in one of the sessions early in the day and it was great to see all of the team from HyperFlow out there cutting it up in everything from hot old school Alfa's to what was essentially a V8 super taxi, but everyone had a great time and with us already planning on more like events and the popularity growing we can look forward to seeing some interesting cars and super fast times come next event!

So thank you to all how attended it's because of all of you that we make these events happen and to all of our team well done on another great day.

MILO IS NUMBER 1

"Cause we are the champions my friends! "

She has done it, Melissa has won her class in the Motor Racing Australia Series and taken out the Championship! It just goes to show the consistency and determination that she has and applies to everything else she does in life and as such has come out at the top of her game.

A huge Congratulation to you Melissa and a special thanks to the cop who let you sneak away when he could have been a general pain in the posterior.

Can i hear someone say BACK -to- Back Titles!! i think so...

Still Counting...

Melissa aka MILO, ran a trouble free race weekend while posting down some excellent race times in the heat of battle, and as we go to print we still can not confirm, nor deny whether or not MILO has manged to clinch the championship!

So here we are full or nervous excitement waiting on baited breath to hear if we get to go cut some NASCAR spec doughnuts in the car park then cruise up Bellona Court as some sort of make shift victory lane or if we have to use that good old saying, "that there is always next year!"

Bloody $200k R35!

Just a quick update, for those of you who follow our racing programs.

Jason Hart who was only a few points off winning his championship going into the final round...Yeah well 2 points and it would've been he's, however this is still a sensational result considering he was only beat by a car that has been called one of the most purposeful cars of all time, which is the very horn R35, though if your Jason this doesn't make you feel any better.

So he will be driving out Evo VII at the EVO NATS next weekend and now, obviously he has a sick vendetta to do as well as super humanly possible, so good luck Mr Hart and well done.

On other racing news Milo will be running her last race of the season this weekend @ Wakefield and so far she has been out in front of the competition for the title, so she is aiming for a consistent ant day to secure the win. Go Get'Em Milo!

"Can You Feel It?"

YEP...Tomorrow is track day, and i thought that we'd all just share a quite moment together, before the clean Goulburn air is filled with fumes and the sound of waste gates releasing at 30psi!

I can't hardly wait, in fact I've been on YouTube all night trying to satisfy my thoughts, and anticipation. But unfortunately that only fueled them more (and made me want a turbo Civic!), then i woke this morning vaguely recalling turbo dreams!

Perhaps i should admit i have a problem, okay i will " Hi my name is Shaun and i am a Boost Junkie" there i did it and tomorrow my friends we go to the track to cleanse our souls!

Praise the LOWERED!

Our X @ Hyperflow (SNEAK PEAK)

The awesome team at Hyperflow sent us a couple of development shots of our Evo X, which not only shows us the very cool stuff they are developing for the X, but also the it reminds us about how much we miss that Mitsubishi, (wow i would never have thought that I'd ever say that).

The car will be making an appearance at our track day, but the event it will be heading back to the NSW South Coast for completion before the full debut at the 2009 EVO NATS in Country Victoria in early November.

Right This Way

Welcome back to myself, i was starting to get withdrawal symptoms, Well you may have guessed it, but this is our new showroom!

And for those of you who saw the last office, slash make shift refugee hut, would whole heartily agree that this is a work of art, we can now display some of the products we sell as opposed to us relying on descriptive words and sounds. and it is also part of us trying to bring to you the most professinal operation possible, instead of operating out of dodgy back yard sheds.

We still haven't come up with an official launch date but trust me were working on it

Customer Car: Bad Ass Bug Eye (aka BABE)

I know what your thinking: "Shaun it's just a blue bug eye rex, dude just get over it!" But really is that what this is, just another rex...?

No, I personally don't see many other rexes rocking 18" Gold Enkei's and oh my word are they, no they can't be, THEY ARE, MASSIVE AP calipers on the front which look like they used to be part of a Boeing 747!

But yeah other then that it's stock, now lift the bonnet and WHAT LIES BENEATH? EJ20 hooked up to a Black Label TD06-20G! other nice bits include a front mount cooler, cold air intake and to control the whole sh-bang, the wonderful and undetectable but super tunerable ECUtek.

What does all this equal, well it gives you about 220awkw's on around 17-18psi, which ain't to shabby, considering this is temporary engine, that's right next year brings 2010 and plans of an EJ25 Monster, and more track oriented goodies.

Now should i just get over it?

Our X @ Hyperflow

Over the course of the weekend we dropped our Evolution X at Hyperflow headquarters in Wollongong, it will be getting used as the development vehicle for Hyperflows new range of air intake and intercooler systems coming out very soon for the X, we expect the car back in about 3 weeks.

But before then a few of the team from Hyperflow have enlisted themselves at the next track day so be sure to say hi, also it's nice to see a parts company getting out amongst the users for some good times and product research.

Be sure to check out their website for a full list of applications http://www.hyperflow.com.au/

and drop us a line if you like what you see.

DK (drifto king) by Track Day?!

Yes, boys and girls the challenge has been thrown down by Mr Paul and His 330kw R32 GTR, after obviously being inspired by the White R33 GTR cutting loose last track day, Paul is going to kick out sideways like a Donkey!

So to all the other competitors, please take this as your first and final warning, that if you see his grey GTR hooking into a the last right hander at Wakefield, it's probably, best NOT to attempt to take him from the outside. unless you've been practicing some team drifting and want to get in on that mad action.

Stay Tuned...

I Forgot to Mention

Ultimate Tunes is also an authorised roadworthy inspection station for the ACT and not only do we modify tuff street cars and race prepare vehicles from the ground up, but we can actually service anything!

So if you have that RH9 GTR in the garage or Grandma's 1991 Green 626 manual, give us a call and we'll book you in for a service that will either help maintain the madness or improve the drive.

Cause here at Ultimates we serve the community, that service at us.

ULTIMATES RX-3 WAGON UPDATE

Yeah, so it didn't quite make it to JDM'FEST! Life in a workshop is a double edged sword you get to do what you love, but your cars and projects always get put aside for the greater good of the customers at the end of the day.

But it's okay, we have secured another RX-3 wagon to utilise it's fancy rear end and bits to make our one super scary and it might actually get traction. Once we have the "little red wagon that could" up and jiving, we will then turn our attention to the new "purple is a girls colour" wagon and transform it into a old school street cruiser with a dirty big carb and all.

I will put up more info on the purple wagon in a future post

Random Snap: Just Add Water

Another one of the great moments from last track day that turned into a skid pan day, was watching this White R33 GTR get all crossed up everywhere. It was not only entertaining for the guy and girls on the side line but the owner was big smiles even when i mentioned it to him at JDM'FEST.

Also just a reminder that our 3rd track day of the year is almost full up, so drop us a line to get in the Que for the 20th of October @ Wakefield Park! Where it should stay a little more dry this time.

Project: V8 HOTLINE Update

Well, this is the flip side to good times in the car world, when it all goes horribly pear shaped!

On the drive home Project Hotline was nicely secured to it's trailer and had already travelled 2/3rd's of it journey, and that's when disaster struck and a gust of wind caught the carbon bonnet and smashed it straight into the roof...enter that sinking feeling!

the car was brought back to base, where a evaluation of the damage turned out to be a lot less then first anticipated, a new bonnet is required and a bit paint and she'll be as good as new.

But always looking to add to awesomeness, we have also sourced a set of NISMO 400r flares to compliment the kit, so it will be back on a trailer and up to the body shop for round two!

Ultimates get's "FUNKY FRESH"

Since JDM'FEST, we have been busy, creating a super fresh new showroom, to better serve our clients and showcase some of the parts which we now distribute. it also cements us as the ACT's leading high performance, one stop shop, offering the great tuning skills coupled with supplying the actual go fast bits.

With final touches coming together this week, we will be planning a grand opening event for sometime in October! This new area gives our clients somewhere to look around at new performance parts to suit their application and a selection of used parts will also be on display, it's also to encourage owners to have a chat about their cars and future modifications, so stay tuned for information on the Grand Opening Mega Sale Event

Another Ultimates Car Leading Championship

J.Hart should be a name that strikes fear into the harts of all those that compete against him, but unfortunately his way too nicer of a guy for that!

But he is however leading his series running into the last round at Oran Park in October, but with only a 1 point advantage going into the event it's still any ones game, With a few tricks up our sleeves and a couple little tweaks since the last round, hopefully he'll come out on top.

And as per usual our team will be there Win/Lose or Draw

A History of TUNES

We were started by Mr Nick Tozzi (Boss) way back in 1991, as a local mechanical workshop with a passion for Motorsport, even in those early days Boss was dabbling in the dark art of tuning, but more importantly it was his emphasis on customer service and doing what was right by the client that kept him in Business during the ups and the downs.

In 2002 the Business was handed down to his Sons who had all grown up in the workshop and have a absolute passion for speed machines, and more so the technical knowledge that you can't just read out of a book or from a forum.

When the boys took over the Dream was racing and building those cars that everyone will talk about long after it's wrapped into a tree, and as you can see over the few posts on this site we are doing just that, building some truly awesome street and track machines, but the one thing that hasn't changed and never will (or Boss will kick us in the CULO!), is our dedication and unrivaled service to our customers, we do this not only for ourselves but for you, if we can surround ourselves with like minded people and have a blast doing what we are doing then at the end of the day, it's a job well done.

Project: 001/300

Well here is yet another one of our project cars, this time it's a MY07 Subaru Liberty GT-B Tuned by STi and it's build number 001 of the 300 produced.

These things are fairly trick for a family car, coming out of the factory with Bilstiens and Brembos and not to mention all of the fancy Sti bits and bobs, and the nice part is that no one suspects the Liberty.

It's current state of tune is 198awkw with a turbo back custom exhaust system through to a quad tips, a huge HyperFlow top mount with a GFB pttshhh valve and most importantly a custom ECUtek tune.

Currently on the way is a Black Label TD06-20G and fresh air intake system, we are chasing about 240 at all corners with these and a few other minor bolt on's

357kw @ all fours...Yep!

This is another one of our favorite customer cars, we'll call him Mr Tap Out. Now if you saw this thing rolling around the streets you'd look and say wow clean evo and then think nothing else of it.

All the while this thing has got the balls absolutely tear the road apart, with it's 2.3 Stroker and big turbo (which rumour has it, is making way for an even bigger turbo!) combo this thing is lightening fast, and a 100% street car.

So mental note: Silver Evo VIII :tick: Carbon Rear Wing :tick: Titanium lipped rims :tick:...Yep just pull over, because it will make you cry till you, TAP OUT!

Random Snap: CH 45 IN

Here is one of my favorite car's from JDM'Fest, a very evil looking Chaser in my colour combination of choice...Black on Black on Black!

With the car's sinister stance and offset it's little wonder why he scored so highly in the peoples choice category.

**Ultimates JDM'FEST 09 WRAP UP**

Okay so the day really started to kick at about 11am with a big influx of cars arriving from then on.

The Show 'n' Shine had all sorts of JDM metal from DR30's to wide body Evo's and a few hard core Honda's thrown in for good measure. With such a mix of cars and different styling cues it was any one's guess who the Peoples Choice trophy was going home with. after a voting stopped it was a Blue/Green Glitter S14 that took it out.

The FWD class only had four competitors and for a while it looked like a very tasty 147fwkw Accord Euro R was going to have the trophy on his mantel, but Wookie in a Black V6 Magna fitted with a supercharger layed down the impressive 187fwkw figure to take it out.

AWD always looked like going home with a Evo owner, it was just a matter of which one, after a strong 280awkw's from a hot little Evo IV, Chris stepped up and threw down the massive 357awkw's to win the class.

And Finally Nathan in his big white Supra stepped up and put the hammer down on the day taking out the Dyno Dominator and RWD class win with a mammoth 398rwkw's. after having to wait all day to see if anyone was going to take his crown, it came down to a very evil looking 180sx running a 2JZ (in a very similar configuration to Nathan's Beast) to post up the challenge, but for whatever reason it couldn't pip the Supra, so Nathan left with a arm full of trophies and a big smile after his mission completed.

So get tuning cause next year is already set to be big!
