NSW Time Attack Wrap Up

The inaugural NSW Time attack was run at Wakefield Park on Saturday & Sunday. For those who braved the freezing cold, were certainly not disappointed. The action was exciting both on and off the track with pit lane a buzz all weekend with team strategies and teams busily repairing cars between sessions, to the insanely fast times set, on a circuit that was extremely cold and wet at times. The 3 classes running were all very tight with. At the end of the of the weekend Rick Bates Took Pro Class and outright honours in the Go Pro Evo X with a blistering time of 0:59.9790. It did not come easy for Rick as he was entangled in a neck and neck battle all weekend with our very own Jason hart in the Ultimate Tunes GC8, Jason held top honours until lunch time on Sunday with a time of 1:00.188
With a head gasket issue discovered on Sunday morning the team did a temporary repair allowing Jason to squeeze one more hot lap, and was going to be blistering fats one when disaster struck and the Dry sump drive sheared off causing oil pressure to drop. Nick Kalis finished 3rd in Pro class with a 1:02.2690. Open class was also hotly contested with Benny Tran taking honours in the BYP Racing Honda Integra with a seriously fast 1:00.490, which also put him 3rd outright and fastest FWD. 2nd in Open class was Jason Wright in the Autotech Engineering Hulk STi with a very respectable 1:01.633.Finishing up the top 3 in Open was John Boston in the Southern Motor Works Lotus Exige. Kyle Dodman had a run in the Ultimate Tunes Evo, after his original entry did not make it and he ran quite a respectable time of a 1:07.339. The Club sprint class was also very hotly contested with some seriously fast time for street cars. Leading club sprint class which was also the biggest class, was IS Motor Racing's Daniel Farquhar in his evo with very fast 1:03.6750on street tyres. Following closely was Jason Naidoo in the Xtreme motorsports Evo with a 1:03.7850. filing in 3rd place for Clubsprint was Darren Morice in the RTR Evo X with a time of 1:04.6920. Finishing in 7th place was Troy Paterson in the Prospeed racing MY12 STi with a 1:08.1420. Overall it was a very exciting weekend and a sign of things to look forward to when WTAC arrives.
